Taiwanese billionaire businessman Daniel M. Tsai was born either in 1956 or 1957. He is the son of Taiwanese business tycoon Tsai Wan-tsai. His brother’s name is Richard Tsai, and together, they manage their family-owned company Fubon Financial Holding Co. which was founded by their father.
Mr. Tsai attended and graduated from National Taiwan University. He furthered his studies at Georgetown University, graduating in the year 1979 with his master’s degree in law.

After graduating from the university with his law degree, Daniel Tsai moved back to Taiwan to lend a hand in his family’s business.
