The businessman, author, and philanthropist, Patokh Chodiev, was born on April 15, 1953, in Jizzakh, Uzbekistan.
He studied at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, an institution that is generally acknowledged to be the leading educational establishment in the country. He graduated with a degree in international law and Japanese in 1976. Subsequently, he went on to earn a doctorate degree in political science.
Professional Life
In 1976, Patokh Chodiev joined the diplomatic service in Russia and was posted to Tokyo, Japan where, speaking fluent Japanese, he specialized in Japan-Russia commercial relations for more than ten years and developed his love and devotion for the country.
In 1989 when he left the diplomatic service, Chodiev established an international mining business that trades as the Eurasian Resources Group nowadays. It is now one of the leading diversified natural-resources companies in the world. In addition, he also founded both the Eurasia Insurance Company (Kazakhstan’s largest insurance company) and Eurasian Bank (one of the leading banking groups in Central Asia).
