Prudence “Prue” Murdoch MacLeod was born in Adelaide, South Australia in August 1958. She is the daughter and eldest child of the famous Australian-born American media magnate Rupert Murdoch, and his first beautiful wife, Australian model Patricia Booker.  She was raised in Adelaide until she clocked 10, a year after her parents divorced, when she relocated to London with her dad and stepmother Anna Torv soon after his purchase of the newspaper publishing firm, News of the World.

She attended a state school in London, England for her secondary education. After her family left London and moved to Manhattan in New York, United States, she enrolled at the Dalton School and completed her studies before moving on to attain tertiary education.
