The American heir and businessman, Ray Lee Hunt, was born in the United States in the year 1943. His father was the late H. L. Hunt who founded the popular and successful American oil and nature gas refiner and distributor called Hunt Oil Co. He is the brother of Helen LaKelly Hunt, June Hunt, and Swanee Hunt.

Ray studied at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.

After the passing of his father in 1974, Ray Hunt and his three sisters inherited his father’s company, Hunt Oil Co., and what was left of the General American Oil Company. Back in 1982, Forbes magazine estimated the net worth of the entire Hunt family to be $200 million. Today, it’s worth multiple folds, as Ray Hunt and his sisters have spent the last three to four decades of their lives extremely busy with the family business, diversifying and transforming it into a massive conglomerate that still yields tremendous profits to this day.

In 1984, Ray Lee Hunt discovered a huge deposit of oil. He teamed up with other partners and companies and began to lay a pipeline and construct a refinery for the oil. In 2006 Forbes estimated that Ray’s family was worth $4.6 billion, a massive increment from $200 million as of 1982.

Mr. Hunt formerly owned the popular Southwest Media Corporation of Texas, publisher of Sport Magazine, Texas Homes, D Magazine, and Houston City Magazine.
