Chamath Palihapitiya was born in Sri Lanka on September 3, 1976. When he was six years of age, his family migrated to Canada where he was raised. He also experienced his education in Canada, attending the University of Waterloo in Ontario for his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. Graduating in 1999, Chamath started working as a trader at an investment bank ‘BMO Nesbitt Burns’.
