Joe Francis is an American entrepreneur and film producer who became widely popular for founding and creating the Girls Gone Wild entertainment label. He worked as a production assistant on the program ‘Real TV’ before releasing the film ‘Banned from Television’ in 1998. Despite achieving fame through his works, at various times, Francis has been convicted of dissuading a witness, bribery, assault causing great bodily injury, tax evasion, false imprisonment, and record-keeping violations, and has pleaded no contest to pornography and child abuse. He moved with his family to Newport Beach, California, when he was age seven. He was enrolled in Our Lady Queen of Angels Elementary School in Newport Beach, and then in several boarding schools. He then relocated to Laguna Beach where he attended Laguna Beach High School.
Francis attempted a Business Administration program at the University of Southern California. He also took courses in film and television, and graduated in 1995 with his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Southern California Entrepreneurial Program.

He then switched his career after he graduated from the University, and started working as a production assistant in the reality television program ‘Real TV’. While working on this program, he started recording footage of car accidents, attacks, and other similar events. With the footage he recorded, Francis had an initiative of his film ‘Banned from Television’. While working for Banned, he got another idea for another new venture named ‘Girls Gone Wild’.
In his newly formed line of entertainment, he displayed videos of girls showcasing their bodies in parties. His company became very popular and soon witnessed immense growth. With the fame achieved by his company, Joe Francis got several charges of assaults on the girls that worked for his company.
