For his education, Bob attended Edward Devotion School for his primary education before moving on to Brookline High School. He bagged a scholarship to study at Columbia University where he became fully involved in the school’s freshman and lightweight football teams, playing in the running back and safety positions.

He graduated from Columbia University in 1963 and enrolled into Harvard Business School where from where he graduated with his degree in 1965.

When he was 27 years old, Bob Kraft was named the chairman of the Newton Democratic City Committee, and he did not fail to live up to expectations. He then started working for the Rand-Whitney Group, and eventually got full control of the company in 1968. Four years later, he created International Forest Products, a venture which dealt with paper commodities. In less than five years his company was already a leader in imports and exports in the United States.

Kraft invested heavily in New England Television Corp., and became the director of New England Television Corp.’s board in 1983. He became a co-owner of the Boston Lobsters in 1974, but the team later folded. Undeterred by the failure of his first investment in a sports team, he made an attempt to acquire the New England Patriots and also made bids for the Boston Red Sox as well as the Boston Celtics. He then purchased the horse track Foxboro Raceway in 1985.
